The Lux Sancta Alabaster Prayer Candle Recalls Your Royalty
The Lux Sancta votive is inspired by the extravagant devotion that sinners and saints over the ages have confessed upon encountering the burning flame of Divine Love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sancta Maria Magdalena is one such woman. In a daringly “beautiful” act, she breaks an alabaster jar of costly perfume over the feet of Jesus, anointing them, washing them with her tears and kissing them. She unites passion and purity in one act, leaving us a legacy of hope for the conversion and redemption of even the most lost or hardened of hearts – even our own – once it has known the fire of Divine Love.
Deep down, we are all the Magdalena, with restless hearts created for celestial greatness yet chasing after the fleeting false promises of “happiness” in harmful places. We have all run after the dross of earth, only to find ourselves empty and back where we started: lost and questioning our worth.
This time, Royal, run to Him.
The Magdalena wants to show you how to gather up your own alabaster jar and place it at his feet, where you will pour out your tears and the sweet costly perfume of your prayers, drying them with the flames of your feeble love.
Jesus will bend toward you and raise you up, and with the fire of Divine Love from his Sacred Heart, he will purify your broken heart…and make it worthy. He will clothe you in dignity and grace. He will crown you with the majesty of heaven. Let Him turn to you and speak to your heart these holy and healing words, “Your sins are forgiven… Your faith has saved you; go in peace…” that you will then become “she who has loved much”.
When the world recalls your shame, he recalls your royalty.
“Why do you make trouble for this woman? She has done a beautiful thing for me… Amen, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be spoken of, in memory of her.”
Maria Magdalena’s story can be found in Matthew 26:6-13, Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7:37-39, John 12:1-8, and below.
Light This Light In Honor of Those You Love
At House of Royals, we spent many months searching for and developing the Pure Heart Alabaster Candle. From the sourcing of raw, unpolished white alabaster that would soften with the natural oils from a hand’s touch and showcase each individual piece’s unique fine marbling, to the prayerful hand pouring of the 100% beeswax inserts with all organic materials by faith-filled local artisans on location at our studio, these exquisite votive candles have at last become a fitting representation of this exchange of love and devotion between Divine and human hearts.
Make a holy light an essential element of your home sanctuary and living a life full of grace, lighting it in the quiet stillness of cool mornings, in the busyness of daily life or in the shadows of evening. Light it in honor of those you love, those who are hard to love, and those in need, and send your intentions heavenward. Let it become a light for you in times of darkness and a reflection of joy in times of thanks and praise. Little by little, let God’s love shine into the depths of your own heart and ignite love and light within you, so that you may become light to others.
Designed with a critical eye for beauty and craftsmanship, and made with the wholesome goodness of beeswax to evoke liturgical candles in churches of old, these candles lit prayerfully will scatter darkness through their fiery flicker, symbolizing the triumph of God’s light and glory over all spiritual darkness. A hard fuel, beeswax burns with the hottest of the candle flames, requiring a large cotton wick that will create a naturally superlative burn time and brightness. Unscented but for the lingering aroma of honey, your candle will not toxify the air like paraffin or synthetic wax candles, but will rather emit negative ions that purify the atmosphere wherever it is burned. Alabaster candles are also a translucent stone, and will glow luminously in darkness, especially once the insert has burned down (or with a tea light). Finally, capped with a matching lid that doubles as a candle coaster, these beautiful votives, for you or for a loved one, offer an intimate, transcendent reminder of a loving God who hears our prayers, shares in our sufferings, and celebrates our joys.
Fine Detailing, Imperfectly Perfect
Each candle has been handcarved from raw alabaster stone. The white vessel is raw, and will come unpolished, bearing unique markings and marbling, and even still carry some of the fine dust particles from the artisan’s work. Depending on your desired aesthetic, it is possible to give this candle a “polished look”, by rubbing it with a little coconut oil, however, this process is irreversible and will make the candle very translucent, so guarantee that this is the look you are wanting to achieve.
Carved and engraved in Delhi, India. Handpoured in prayer on location at our private studio in Los Angeles, California, by the all-organic artisanal BeeWell Candle Co and House of Royals team. Approx. 30-33 hours burn time. Take care to trim the wick before each new burning to 1/4 inch. Longer burn times are helpful for beeswax candles so they pool and burn evenly; however, never leave a candle unattended or around children or pets. Candles become extremely hot and caution is recommended. Continue to refill your votive with inserts or tea lights, or feel free to reuse your votive creatively in whatever way inspires you, for example, as a vase, a makeup brush holder, or family rosary holder.

“I promise…” The Biblical Story of Mary Magdalene
Now there was a sinful woman in the city who learned that he was at table in the house of the Pharisee. Bringing an alabaster flask of ointment, she stood behind him at his feet weeping and began to bathe his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and anointed them with the ointment. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, that she is a sinner.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said. “Two people were in debt to a certain creditor; one owed five hundred days’ wages and the other owed fifty. Since they were unable to repay the debt, he forgave it for both. Which of them will love him more?” Simon said in reply, “The one, I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven.” He said to him, “You have judged rightly.” Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I entered your house, you did not give me water for my feet, but she has bathed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
“You did not give me a kiss, but she has not ceased kissing my feet since the time I entered. You did not anoint my head with oil, but she anointed my feet with ointment. So I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence, she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.” He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” The others at table said to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?” But he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” / LUKE 7:37-50
Since Jesus knew [they were indignant], he said to them, “Why do you make trouble for the woman? She has done a beautiful thing for me.The poor you will always have with you; but you will not always have me. In pouring this perfumed oil upon my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Amen, I say to you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be spoken of, in memory of her.” / MATTHEW 26:6-13, MARK 14:3-9, JOHN 12:1-8
