House of Royals was born of the desire we all feel to live wholehearted, purposeful lives infused with holy, meaningful connections and beautiful, life-giving things. We knew that we couldn’t possibly be alone in the desire to love and be loved within a life, family, and home “full of grace”. In fact, we felt called to it. As we began to share this desire with others, many we spoke to expressed similar longings. In the midst of the triggers to negativity and suffering in our world, we all want everyday reminders of Grace. We began to see the earth in a new light, a richness of created beauty pointing to a Creator… Things of this world designed to showcase the next… Visible signs of invisible realities… What if we were to surround ourselves and those we love with tangible inspirations sourced from the material world? Could they help us remember to open our hearts each day? This is how House of Royals came to have its core raison d’etre.

We have designed with intention at home in North America, sourced from ethical artisans and manufacturers around the world, and collaborated with fine artists on unique pieces that could only be considered treasures. Sacred Beauty

All of creation speaks to us of Divine artistry and majesty, which we strive to capture, develop and introduce into everyday life. Beauty is the face of God. Just look at humanity, exquisitely diverse in coloring, shaping, and culturing. Must God's own Face not be endlessly beautiful to radiate so many expressions of it? Beauty for its own sake remains a foundational principle of House of Royals philosophy, and although the aesthetic can run diverse, the core value remains the same: a holy beauty that expresses the Face of God and elevates the human spirit.

Sacramental Experiences

Here we speak of the utterly palpable reality of earthly matter, in philosophy and science defined as any physical substance that occupies space and possesses mass, the substance of which material, physical, corporeal objects are composed. "God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good." Genesis 1:31

God not only loved matter when he generated it, he also chooses to bless it today and incorporate it into our rituals and relationships with him and each other. He uses tangible realities to point us to transcendence.

So, we also speak of spirit, the non-physical, divine dimension of the world, which animates all life around us.

Treasures of Faith

There is no doubt that by birthright, Royals can stand in their cultural and historical inheritance. We claim our rights to and seek to build upon the vast legacy of art, tradition and faith treasures that raise up our generations. We also take responsibility for our role in stewarding and growing this deposit of truth, goodness and beauty into the future.

One day a class visited a chateau in the Loire Valley. The docent took them into a room with an enormous stretch of hanging fabric, many yards across from one wall to the other. On the fabric were hundreds of ugly knots and tangles of stray thread in a chaos of confused shapes that made very little sense. The docent said, “This is what the artist saw as he worked.”

Then she led the class around to the front of the fabric. And what they saw is the great Tapestry of the Apocalypse of St. John, the story of the Book of Revelation in 90 immense panels. Created between 1377 and 1382, it’s one of the most stunning and beautiful expressions of medieval civilization, and among the greatest artistic achievements of the European heritage.

We don’t see the full effects of the good we do in this life. So much of what we do seems a tangle of frustrations and failures. We don’t see — on this side of the tapestry — the pattern of meaning that our faith weaves.

But one day we’ll stand on the other side. And on that day, we’ll see the beauty that God has allowed us to add to the great story of his creation, the revelation of his love that goes from age to age no matter how good or bad the times. And this is why our lives matter.
