We question if it was intentional or not, but she always valued moments of grace, of connection and quiet whispers of love.

Is there a higher love than that of a grandparent?
She had perspective, and was always there to share it. She'd find that right way to hug us, to assure us in moments of crises and questions, to overcome any of our burdens.
We had busy lives.
And even though her sons and daughters and we cousins could be notoriously difficult to connect with, she’d find just the right gifts and cards to send at birthdays, or Christmas, or in celebrating our steps in Faith. She always told of the joy we were, and wanted to remind us of our identity as Children of a loving God shown in a loving family (no matter how dysfunctional we felt we were...). Our value for her gifts has admittedly grown as we've matured. We both cherish many of her little acts of love.
Life gets complicated - is it this way for everyone?
As we grow into adulthood, the simple joys of childhood become increasingly compromised or conflicted by human relationships and struggle of making a life. As we got married, and started having our own children, we realized how tremendously blessed we are by the role our own parents have played in caring for and passing on beautiful traditions to our young children.
We can see her:
She will always have that unique ability to jump into the chaos of daily family life, insert peace and tranquility, lend a hand or pass on wisdom that she’s collected over her years, and to remind us of what really matters in life. She creates home environments that are a sanctuary for every little human being to grow up in, safely and securely, just like her heart.
The memories she has made with us over the years are treasures we carry with us.
They're enduring gifts, like time and a prayer.

What do you remember about "her"?
Thank you, Mom. Thank you, Grandma. We know you've been often under-appreciated. Thank you to the generations of women who have taught us to love, and use words only if absolutely necessary. + If you're looking for a gratefulness devotion to practice with your family around the table this Thanksgiving, download this

What lengths we mothers and grandmothers will travel for the safekeeping of our children/grandchildren. A strength only God himself is capable of placing.
