We asked Mary to share her a simple yet elegant Fall Makeup Look that you can do any day of the week, to radiate the beauty you possess on the inside. Fall is my favorite season of the year. The change in temperatures is most welcome as nature reveals her splendor. There is nothing I love more than a long walk enjoying the crisp air, wrapped in my favorite sweater, while the leaves fall in a brilliant rainbow of reds and yellows.
With the change of seasons comes a change in my daily personal care routine. As I have gotten older, my skin has become more sensitive to the products I use. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and everything we apply to it enters the blood stream. The result of my recent education has become a new passion surrounding clean beauty products. It has led to new ventures for me mid-life which are exciting and keep me young. If you’re not learning you’re not growing.
As the air becomes dryer, I add in a daily moisturizer to assist in keeping my skin happy. As we age, we lose elasticity in our skin, thereby requiring a little extra care. No matter your age, take an extra moment or two to care for your skin. Your older self with thank you for it.
As far as my makeup routine goes, I begin incorporating warmer tones of eye shadow and blush as well as the addition of a bronzer. I have fair skin with a hint of rosacea. The addition of the bronzer, lightly applied, brings a little summer kiss as the days get shorter.
For a typical weekday look I use a few products taking me only five minutes or so to apply. My favorite clean beauty brand is Beautycounter. I use their SkinTwin Foundation in 210 all over my face, bronzer lightly applied wherever I typically have sun, the light concealer under my eyes, blush in the color Melon, clear eyebrow gel, Volumizing mascara and Rosewood Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick and topped with gloss.
When I wish to add a little pizzazz to my look I use the “Classic” eyeshadow palette layering mid-tone shades on the lid, darker in the outside corner of the eye and lighter still by the line of the eyebrow and a touch in the inner lid.
I have always felt that you dress for the day you wish to have. In these uncertain times, it’s important to care for ourselves both in mind, body and spirit. In my opinion, there is no problem that a fabulous pair of statement earrings and a smashing shade of lip gloss cannot improve.
